What have you done today?

I just finished reading a book called "Cancer is a Bitch" by Gail Konop-Baker and I'm in the process of reading another amazing one called "Time of My Life" by Allison Winn Scotch. The first is a memoir, the second, fiction. Go to amazon this minute and order them both. They will make you think about your life differently, and appreciate it more.
It seems that every book I pick up is doing that for me lately, making me value my life-every precious and mundane minute of it- more. I pray that someday my book will do that for someone else. That's why I'm heading out in the next couple of hours to a writer's retreat for the weekend. I am committed to finishing my memoir no matter how long it takes. I recently read a wonderful quote by one of my favorite authors, Sarah Ban Breathnach. She says, "It's not how fast you make your dream come true, but how steadily you pursue it." So, let's all be about the business of pursuing our dreams. Ever heard that song "What have you done today to make you feel proud"? I want to know what you are doing TODAY to inch you toward your dream. If nothing else, order a book that will inspire you or go to itunes and download that song! Have a wonderful, productive, blissful weekend, everyone.
Sandra
p.s. Thanks for all of the birthday messages. It was truly the best one ever!

(first to comment! yay!)

Today I had my audition for the winter production that the grade 12 drama class puts on. Everything within the production from tech, set, and costumes to the acting itself and publicity is all done by the one grade 12 drama class of 22 people. I'm quite proud to say that I was asked to read for three different characters, and was named lighting designer for the production.

If I'm cast in this show, I am proud to say I'll be even one itty-bitty step closer to heading to my college choice and eventually NYC one day. Experience is all it takes.

The excitement for your book is building every time you mention it :]

I'm reading this book right now by Deanna Favre, "Don't Bet Against Me!: Beating the Odds Against Breast Cancer and in Life." It's really good, and makes you appreciate things a little more.

Oh and that song you mentioned, "Proud", is a great song. :)

Hi Sandra! Just hopped over from Allison Winn Scotch's blog and if it's ok with you, I'm going to add you to my blog roll so I can continue to follow your blog :) I'll be looking forward to your memoir! It sounds like it'd be a great read!

Hooray Kearyn and Becky! And Amy, WELCOME! Please join our little posse over here, though I must confess I do not blog with the regularity of our fabulous AWS. That girl is so prolific it leaves my jaw on the floor!

What if I had moved to SC to be with my then boyfriend? What would have happened when he had a change of heart and decided to move across the country, the move which ultimately ended our relationship. What if I didn't respond by moving myself - changing my job and my life, going back to school - all of it brought me to the man (and life) of my dreams!

You have great taste in books, Sandra, and a fascinating story to tell. Oh yes, I'll be back to follow along for the rest of the journey.
